On Strike!

Strikes are crisis times for local unions and their members, but they tend to engender a strong sense of solidarity among the strikers (also animosity toward those who did not support the stoppage or crossed the picket line). Among some of the more prominent work actions are the Minneapolis Teamsters General Strike of 1934, the 1997 UPS strike, the Basic Vegetable Products strike of 1999-2001 (King City, California), and the Watsonville, California, cannery workers strike of 1985.
